Securing Jobs, Driving Growth – Hutchinson Secures Contract for Ørsted’s Hornsea 3

We are proud to announce that Hutchinson has been awarded a contract by Severfield for the provision of Supported Internal Platforms (SIPs) for Ørsted’s Hornsea 3 project, a landmark project poised to become the world’s largest offshore wind farm upon completion.

We are proud to announce that Hutchinson has been awarded a contract by Severfield for the provision of Supported Internal Platforms (SIPs) for Ørsted’s Hornsea 3 project, a landmark project poised to become the world’s largest offshore wind farm upon completion.

Hornsea 3, located approximately 160 km off the Yorkshire coast in the North Sea, is set to deliver an unprecedented 2.9 GW of renewable energy—enough to power over 3 million UK homes. As a cornerstone of the UK government’s plan to achieve 50 GW of offshore wind capacity by 2030, the project exemplifies the nation’s commitment to clean energy, energy security, and sustainable growth.

This contract award builds on our proven track record, including the successful delivery of SIPs for Hornsea 2 and our extensive experience in supplying secondary steelworks and other key components for the Offshore Wind sector. It represents a major milestone in our strategic growth plans to enhance both the capability and scale of our offerings to the offshore and wider renewables sector.

The award also reflects the tangible success of our business improvement and innovation initiatives, supported by the Offshore Wind Growth Partnership (OWGP). These initiatives have enabled us to streamline production processes, innovate in product design and delivery, and strengthen our position as a trusted partner within the offshore wind supply chain.

Through ongoing production expansion at our North-West facilities, this project will further drive investment, secure existing jobs, and create additional roles across the north of England. Hutchinson remains steadfast in our commitment to delivering high-quality solutions that support the development of renewable energy infrastructure, while fostering economic growth and sustainability within our local communities.

We look forward to playing a key role in this transformative project and continuing our collaboration with industry leaders like Severfield and Ørsted to power a greener future.

Energy Secretary Ed Miliband, said:

“This investment is a vote of confidence in British manufacturing and our mission to deliver clean power by 2030, boosting our factories and supporting jobs in the North of England to power up the world’s biggest offshore wind farm.

“This multi-million pound investment will build on the manufacturing expertise of our industrial heartlands, ensuring these communities can benefit from the vast opportunities that come with us becoming a clean energy superpower.
