1979 - Hutchinson formed
The Group, including Hutchinson Engineering, is formed to service the local petro-chemical industry.
1995 - First telecoms contract
The company enters the telecoms sector after securing our first contract to supply rooftop lattice towers.
1998 - Opened design department
We form our in-house design and product development department.
2000 - Opened distribution centre
A new secondary processing and distribution centre is opened in Widnes.
2002 - In-house telecoms rigging and test facility opened
All Telecoms rigging and testing done in-house by trained team
2002 - Collaboration with 02
In collaboration with 02, we develop a market-leading high-capacity street works structure range.
2005 - First Vodafone structure
Manufacture and supply of structures to Vodafone.
2007 - First wind turbine structure
First micro generation wind turbine structure is manufactured and deployed.
2008 - Expansion of facilities
The expansion of our workforce and fabrication facilities to accommodate growth in wind turbine structure design and manufacture.
2009 - Hutchinson becomes independent
Hutchinson splits from Group to become an independent company.
We register our first patent.
2010 - Major investment in Laser profiling
First laser profiling machines installed
2012 - Wind turbine contracts
Due to our growing manufacturing capabilities and expertise, we win several major wind turbine contracts.
2012 - Increased fabrication capacity
We increase our fabrication capacity by opening an additional 1200ft2 facility.
2013 - First 500Kw wind turbine
Our first 500Kw wind turbine structures are designed and fabricated.
2014 - Open 40,000ft2 manufacturing site.
We open an additional 40,000ft2 manufacturing site to allow in-house plate rolling and blast and paint facilities for structures up to 4.2m in diameter.
2015 - First offshore wind contract
Hutchinson Engineering is awarded its first offshore wind contracts.
2015 - First lattice towers designed
We design a range of modular lattice towers, for use in a wide variety of locations.
2017 - Opening quayside facilities
Our quayside manufacture and painting facilities are opened at the Port of Garston.
2019 - New manufacturing site
The opening of a new purpose built 4500m2 manufacturing facility on a 5-acre site.
2020 - In-house CNC facility
Our new 300m2 in-house CNC machining facility is opened, housing the latest technology.
2021 – First rail contract
We win our first rail contract manufacturing rail boggies.
2021 - 1mw wind turbine towers
We commence serial production of 1mw wind turbine towers
2022 - First Nuclear sector contract
We secure our first contract in the nuclear sector
2023 – Overhead cranes
We commence manufacture of large box girder overhead cranes on our dedicated production line.
2023 – Robotic welding
We install our first fully robotic welding cell.
